Lily Amongst Brambles

Lily Amongst Brambles

In the hands of broken feelings I fell

When the femme fatale selfishly fed

With truth less sugar-coated love and tell

And those jeweled houseflies deceitfully led

Like dove, they disguised very well

He’s a worthless nameless nobody, they said

So into the darkest ditch kicked me away

And I suffocated this ordeal everyday

But gathered I the broken pieces of hell

After groping in the valley of Hel

Oh Ị how blind had I been to tell?

That while searching for empty rosy roses afar

Right in the middle of brambles here

She’d stretched her hand in dear

Heart in hand, dear unfeigned lily near

A poem by Michael Assefuah Ansah
